I'm grateful to Gail Wilson and the Northgate team for graciously allowing me to share my works with the wonderful people and community at Big Canoe, Georgia. I have so much enjoyed meeting you all, and I appreciate your ongoing support!
Below you'll find a few recent works painted at Northgate during weekend painting demos. Many more great paintings to come soon, including a glimpse of a few custom works capturing special events, moments and destinations of my collectors.
Website updates are in progress with much more to come soon, if I can put my brush down long enough : )
16" x 20" Acrylic Original on Canvas
This painting was done onsite at Northgate Estates during a live painting demo.
I had to setup in a unique spot close to the rocks but with my back facing the scene so that I could get close enough to the rocks and water given the uneven terrain. I would turn and paint, turn and paint.
I came across this old frame that a local antique store had available. Someone had re-painted a well-worn frame with some bold, deep red, and gold accent in the deco. I was compelled to take it, not knowing yet what I would paint to put inside. Not long after, I felt the urge to bring this old red rooster to life and give him a home in the frame.
While painting it, I was reminded of Apostle Peter's journey with the Lord. Three times he was overcome with fear and denied the Lord, Three times the Lord restored him with a testimony of love from Peter's very own lips toward the Lord. How gracious and how merciful our God is!
In 2018 in Israel I had an opportunity to visit the location of the home of Caiaphas the High Priest - where Christ was taken after being led away from the Garden of Gethsemane - right where Peter's encounter with the prophesy of his denial and the crowing rooster. Hence, the name of this painting - "Thrice".

This painting was done onsite during a painting demo at Northgate Estates. Subject was from personal photos of a fly fisherman working his own kind of art at the GA Hwy 53, Amicalola River Bridge.

I'm always inspired by the rivers and lakes of North Georgia. They are one of my favorite subjects to paint. I prefer to paint on location (plein air) whenever I can, but love also to paint from a great photo reference if available.
"Sweet Georgia Nights" is from a personal photo reference of a local pond. Sunrises and sunsets can always be captivating - but we should not forget a good moonrise at early dusk.
