MY HEART BEGAN RACING, THE MOMENT I ARRIVED

What a pleasure it was to be out on a spring morning in the presence of such a beautiful scene. From the moment I stepped outside of my vehicle, my heart began racing. I had been wanting to stop here for quite some time- and, although it is really beautiful just driving by, it's a whole different experience up close and personal. The light breaking through the trees on this partly cloudy morning, set the fields ablaze yellow. Though they were yellow already, the light shining through brought blaze passion to the scene. A gentle breeze, the flowing of the tall grasses and hint of sweet aroma from the flowers, made this the perfect place this morning. Most of all, I enjoyed meeting some passers by who were kind enough to say 'hello' and share encouraging words as I worked my way through what turned out to be a more difficult scene than I expected. This painting was done in oil on a 24x48 canvas with brush and palette knife. I MUST paint this scene again : )

2022 Dec - Update on this scene: This painting just became more valuable to me as the location of this historic grove of pecan trees, the Mashburn fields was bulldozed and a new neighborhood is now being built. Had I passed by on that day that I painted here, without stopping to take it all in, I would have lost my very last chance to do so. I say LIVE by your spirit and your heart that calls out to you in the moment, for everything is always changing and you may not pass this way again.
